forcing me to organize: a move

So, we’re moving. After two years in our much-loved apartment, we’re moving next month to a coach house on a friend’s property. We’re really excited - it’s going to be nice to have a little more privacy, no more parking lot dings on our poor car, AND (the best part) we’ll have our own garage. Why on earth, you may ask, am I excited about a garage? Two reasons: the house is slightly smaller than our current dwelling and we can store a bunch of stuff in the garage if need be (simplify! de-clutter!) AND (the best reason!) this garage is the perfect spot for a letterpress. We’re on the lookout for one, now that we have a spot to put it!

But the primary reason for this post is to discuss re-thinking our office. At the moment it’s an organizational nightmare. So, this move is going to force me to reorganize. That’s not a bad thing, because I love organizational supplies, and of course, I love the finished room.

This post on The Paper Pony made me jealous, I would love to find lockers similar to the ones she found. Need to do some flea market and garage sale hunting.

I really want to set up a large pin board to put up projects and inspirations. Perhaps we can cover it with some Amy Butler fabric?

Just bought Russel and Hazel’s collator, which will be perfect for keeping current files organized. I love the “out,” “in,” and “limbo” file folders from Bob’s Your Uncle. We also recently purchased the Desktop File from Russel and Hazel for bookkeeping stuff. Ikea is always a must for office stuff…thinking I’ll pick up some of these for magazine storage. The room is smaller than our current office, but it has vaulted ceilings, so maybe we can go “up” with Lack shelving from Ikea - I love the shelves we put in our studio.

more maps!

map_1.jpg

Unfortunately, we can’t take credit for this lovely map - it was hand-drawn by one of our September brides. Heather and Shan will be getting married at the Mountain Springs Lodge in Leavenworth and she drew this guide for her guests for inclusion in a welcome booklet. I LOVE the details included here and we’re positive their guests will have a fun-filled weekend!

Photos of Heather and Shan’s save the dates, invitations, and reception items will be posted soon!

belated congratulations…

Late congratulations are due to two of our couples, who both wed the last weekend in July. First up are Nancy and Jeff, who married in Kirkland and then celebrated at their reception at the Bellevue Club. They were just a delight to work with, from the bookmark save the date (they met at a bookstore!) to the invitation suite - all in cheery and uncomplicated navy and sky blues.

Happy (late) wedding day also goes out to Jane and Roland, who celebrated in Seattle. Their wedding included an entire weekend of events for their guests, most of whom came from out of town, including a Seattle Duck Tour and an impromptu performance from the bride and groom at the Can Can restaurant. Jane and Roland’s folio invitation was a perfect fit, providing guests with an organized and thorough guide to their weekend. They also chose to order thank you cards, programs (fans - perfect for a HOT Seattle day), menus, and guest book pages.

like the sands through an hour glass…but cooler.

font_clock.jpg

It’s been a while since I myself have posted on the blog. Lately it’s been all Whitney Whitney Whitney. Well, no longer. I just had to post this. I saw this a couple days ago on uncrate and can’t stop thinking about it so I figured I’d show others what I am obsessing about right now. For all those, like us, obsessed with type here is the Font Clock. It can be bought at Thorsten Van Elten and was designed by Sebastian Wrong.

From the website: The Font Clock is a 21st century take on the British 24 hour clock design icon. Twelve different fonts are printed within the mechanism of the clock providing a random, mixed display of graphic language within a single time piece. Font clock is offered in three sizes.

What a great way to keep track of how fast time flies. Speaking of which…back to work!
