style your dream wedding

I’ve seen a lot of hype about Susie Coelho’s new book, Style Your Dream Wedding. She’s been everywhere these past couple of weeks - the Today Show, several wedding planning blogs - and I had to go check the book out in person. I’m not always impressed with wedding planning books, so I wasn’t sure what to expect…
This book blew me away. It’s absolutely one of the most beautiful books I’ve seen in a long time. Style Your Dream Wedding is well thought out, covers every last detail, gives a ton of inspiration, and contains gorgeous photography, including quite a bit from Seattle’s John and Joseph Photography. I spent a solid hour poring over the book in the store, then had to buy it, and since then I’ve spent several more hours examining it!
Susie’s website is also full of great ideas for weddings and entertaining. Check it out - it looks like she’s started a blog, too!

1 commentbad blogger!
It’s been crazy around here since we returned from vacation, so I’ve been a bad blogger! We have a lot to share though, so it’s going to be a full week of posting this week, I promise!
To kick off my return, here’s a great save the date we delivered in the past week. How much fun are these? This couple definitely has a sense of humor and we had a blast working on the design. The best part is that most of their family and friends are avid tabloid readers (even the bride’s 92 year old grandma is a regular subscriber!) so these fit the bill perfectly. Yes, that is the bride and groom in costume.
My favorite detail is that when mailing, the bride and groom addressed most with the guests’ names and the “or current resident”. How awesome is that?

millions of colors

Seeing that we left you for almost two weeks now we figured the least we could do was brighten your day with some color.

Recently I have been doing some research for a non-wedding design project. The visual cues have all been futuristic-retro. Not just any retro style either, the amazing futuristic views that could only come from the seventies. For some reason, in the seventies, the future was full of rainbows. In doing this research a fellow designer posted a link to some images of the Canadian designer James White and his company Signal Noise. His influences all comes from the same future of the seventies (and some 80’s). Influences such as, Atari, the Commodore 64 (how I love thee) and movie posters from the era. He then take those influences and re-designs or reinterprets the imagery with great technique. It is both complex and simple. Be sure to also check out his online store. Just thought you all might enjoy some stimuli for the eye this mid-week in April.

we’re off!
We’re heading off to the gulf for a sun-drenched vacation with the family! We will return on April 15 (good thing our taxes are done!). Please bear with our absence and look for new stuff when we return!
