a better chance of getting struck by lightning

jgarner_photo.jpg

In the case of this picture it was very much a possibility. We recently saw this picture on J. Garner’s Blog and were just blown away! This really is an amazing shot. We would say a it’s a one-in-a-million shot, but he mentions he caught lighting in other shots from this wedding three more times! Yikes. Even so, we were so amazed by this picture we had to share it.

J. Garner Photography is one of the many great photographers in the Seattle area. In fact, they have been recognized for their photography in more way than one. They were chosen as one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world by American Photo Magazine and most recently we were able to see them win “2008’s Best Photographer in Seattle” at the Seattle Bride Magazine “best of” party. Congrats to both Jim and Katarina. The accolades are well deserved!

paprika event design

We’ve been honored to work with Heather of Paprika Event Design, a new event planning company here in the Seattle area. We worked closely with Heather to create a fresh brand, including logo, business cards, website, and blog. As we’ve gotten to know Heather and her business philosophy, we’re more and more excited to see what she accomplishes in this medium. We expect to see great things!

paprika business cards

One of her primary philosophies is that a modern bride planning a chic event can have a positive impact on the environment while remaining stylish and true to vision. Bravo!

Be sure to watch Heather’s blog for inspirational ideas. Congrats on the new business, Heather, and thank you for involving us from the beginning!

without music, life would be an error.

PrintPageRockMusic3.jpg

These were the words of Friedrich Nietzsche and we’d have to agree. If you are anything like us, the days just cannot go by without music - especially when working in this creative field. We recently saw this poster/chart and immediately fell in love with it. Here is the description of the poster from the site: “The print is a reproduction of Reebee Garofalo’s Genealogy of Pop/Rock Music chart which has been praised by many scholars and fans alike.

It covers the time period from 1955 to 1978, more than 700 artists and 30 styles of music are mapped in currents flowing from left-to-right.”

Seeing that music is such an important part of our lives we may just need to order this and put it up in our studio!

Speaking of great music, one of my personal favorites, Tom Waits, is doing a small tour this summer. If you are one of the fortunate ones that happens to live in one of the states (or countries) he his hitting, take it from me, GO! I have had the opportunity to see Tom Waits twice now and would jump at the chance to see him again.

yes, i am aware…

…that I have not blogged in a very long time. Sorry about that. It’s been crazy around here since returning from NSS.

This week has been busy with the usual stuff - we have a lot of projects going right now that we’ll definitely share here on the blog soon.

city token gear

token_comp.jpg

I’ve been meaning to write about these for a while now. A few years ago Graphic designer Dustin Wood was struck with inspiration and started designing these unique “urban token necklaces” - thus was born Hanger3. He now is offering his necklaces with tokens from a variety of different cities. Check them out and if jewelry isn’t your thing, but love the look, he is now offering Wine Glass Markers…no more colored beads or silver charms to know whose booze is whose!
