open house

After settling into our new studio, we hosted a small open house to show off our great new space! Jodi and Arianna from Woodland Flowers provided gorgeous floral arrangements for the event and we thoroughly enjoyed mingling with friends and colleagues!

Jonathan and I had so much fun creating invitations for the open house – a vintage inspired design that we then had letterpressed on chipboard. The invites were either hand delivered or mailed in gorgeous chocolate or papaya envelopes with wrap-around labels.

kent and london chest of drawers

alphabetdrawers

This gorgeous chest of drawers from the UK’s Kent and London Handmade Furniture is an organizational dream! Inspired by vintage wood type, this piece is custom made to order out of beautifully finished oak. This is on my “never going to happen” wish list – I can’t imagine the cost to ship this stateside! But, in the meantime, I can wish….

yellow & gray invitation :: sneak peek

dandelions

We wanted to share a quick sneak peek at a job we delivered a couple weeks ago. Since the wedding hasn’t happened yet, we can’t show too much.

Needless to say, it’s another really fun project we got to work on and are excited to see the results. The gray and yellow color scheme is bright and fresh. Our clients were able to keep the set budget-friendly by using only one ink and adding pops of color with bright yellow envelopes.

We’ll be sure to show more detail after their event.

fancy schmancy new studio

I promised I’d share photos of our new studio and here they are! We share the studio with a wonderful floral design company, Woodland Flowers (the beautiful flowers in the photos below were designed by them). Some of our favorite details about the studio are the large open size, the exposed brick walls, and the vaulted ceilings. The room gets a lot of natural light and feels roomy and warm.

The paint color took some trial and error – we wanted a warm and cozy gray, which proved more difficult to find than we expected. But eventually we found the perfect shade, and I can’t be happier with the results! It works nicely with the brick and with all of our white furniture.

The chairs were a find from a vintage furniture resale shop here in Seattle. Once we brought them into the studio, we discovered they are a dead-on match to the existing green carpet. At first we weren’t too sure about either the carpet or the matchiness with the chairs – but we’ve decided to like it for now. Maybe eventually we will be able to change the carpet.

We’re looking forward to many wonderful meetings with our clients in our new space!

buckminster exhibit | fun inspiration

buckminster

In thinking about our upcoming Chicago trip, I figured I should really check to see what the current exhibitions are at some of the art museums. While I always love to go spend a day at the Art Institute of Chicago, when I saw that there is currently an exhibition about industrial designer and inventor Buckminster Fuller at the Museum of Contemporary Art, I realized that if we are able to spend any time in a museum it would be fascinating to see this exhibit.

Buckminster Fuller has always intrigued me – I think because my Dad, as industrial design graduate himself, used to talk about ‘Bucky,’ his geodesic domes, and his forward-thinking designs. Many of Fuller’s designs and ideas were not only ahead for his time but are ahead even by today’s standards. Just look at his design for a high speed, fuel efficient car (30MPG) that could carry 11 – and this was in 1933!

I love the geometric details and futuristic aspects of his many of his designs. I think the retro-future look (which seems to be a favorite of mine) would be really fun to pull into a couples’ wedding stationery – all those fun geometric shapes and patterns would look amazing.

The USPS stamp that was created in his honor is great too.

It has been such a long time since I’ve shared any sneak peeks of our current work, so I thought I’d share a little goodness with you all today! This website is not complete yet, but we expect it to launch in the next two weeks (at which point you’ll all get to see more fabulousness!)

In the meantime though, I thought I’d share some snippets to whet your appetites – this website has been so much fun to work on and I can’t wait to share more! (Plus the client happens to be super fab, so we’ll share the details on her as well!)
