our bare walls are taunting me

Our bare walls are on my brain this week (as is evidenced by the two previous posts) – I’m itching to buy, frame, and hang new artwork. And I’m anxious to repaint the living room (currently green, but I think we’re going to paint it the same shade of gray as the studio – just waiting for a free weekend to tackle it).
This screen printed artwork by Slide Sideways is another favorite – perfectly appropriate for our Pacific Northwest household.

I discovered the dear colleen etsy shop via design*sponge yesterday and immediately fell in love with this print. Inspired by a Tom Waits quote (I know Jonathan will appreciate that) and featuring my favorite beverage (mmm…bubbly), this could be a perfect addition to our wall.
Also, since I’ve been in real pain for the past week (I’m recovering from oral surgery), I can tell you that this print echos my real feelings on the matter.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this letterpress office print by Katie Kirk of Eight Hour Day (also the illustrator of Eli, No – remember that cutie?). Buy it here.
This is a perfect addition to our home studio, which happens to be the same shade of yellow as is seen in the print…

An essential part of any well-appointed bar is a bar book – but I’d be tempted to ditch the whole book idea in favor of a stylish option like these classic cocktail bar cards by etsy seller neilhubert. Screen printed and packaged neatly in newsprint, these would be a fun gift to any cocktail enthusiast (or to yourself!) I’m tempted to order two sets – one to frame, and one to use.

gemma correll illustrations

A friend posted the website of illustrator Gemma Correll on facebook and we were immediately smitten! I love these doggie greeting cards (below) – did anyone else notice how multicultural these dogs are? Love! Cards (and more goodies) available in her shop.

don’t kill the pets…

Whenever we prepare to travel I am reminded of some of my favorite items from Knock Knock – organizational brilliance and irreverent fun!

1 commentrenegade chicago :: wishing to be there, part deux

Last week Whitney posted about our wish to attend the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend, December 5-6 in Chicago. She mentioned a few artists we admire and ended her post with a teaser that I would post a few can’t-miss artists as well. I know you have been waiting with baited breath (haven’t you?), so without further adieu, here are few I would enjoy checking out in person:
First up a perennial favorite of ours: Ork Posters

We love their typographical renditions of city maps, including the Chicago poster which happens to grace the entrance of our home.

We also love their new Brain poster. This, along with the heart poster, would be great for our studio as these are two things that are used to create each of our designs.
Next up: Tugboat Printshop

I love these Deep Blue Sea woodcuts. The illustrations are great and the colors used are beautiful.
And finally: Delicious Design League

We’ve been fans of Delicious Design League since we saw them last year at Renegade. They design and screen print all of their posters and create stellar design and illustration work as well.

Two great Fleet Foxes posters (a favorite of ours!). I love the use of white in the second one.

I had to show this one as it displays two of our favorite things; David Bowie & Flight of the Conchords. Gotta love it.
These are a just few of my picks – there will be so many great artists at Renegade this year so it was hard to pick. It’s definitely a great show – if you’re in Chicago, GO!
