Typography is, of course, one of our passions. We love it when it’s done well, and we get itchy when we see poorly set type. Finding amazing fonts is a pleasure and many times hours are spent sifting through font foundries searching for the “perfect” font for a specific project. While we have our favorite sources to buy fonts, one we constantly go back to (even if just to drool) is Hoefler & Frere-Jones.

They have absolutely amazing fonts, perfectly crafted and works of art on their own. The fonts could sell themselves but the Typography.com website showcases their font library in a clean simple way that really showcases the fonts extremely well. Do yourself a favor and peruse the site even if you’re currently not in the market for new fonts.

We would say a it’s a one-in-a-million shot, but he mentions he caught lighting in other shots from this wedding three more times! Yikes. Even so, we were so amazed by this picture we had to share it.

J. Garner Photography is one of the many great photographers in the Seattle area. In fact, they have been recognized for their photography in more way than one. They were chosen as one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world by American Photo Magazine and most recently we were able to see them win “2008’s Best Photographer in Seattle” at the Seattle Bride Magazine “best of” party. Congrats to both Jim and Katarina. The accolades are well deserved!

These were the words of Friedrich Nietzsche and we’d have to agree. If you are anything like us, the days just cannot go by without music - especially when working in this creative field. We recently saw this poster/chart and immediately fell in love with it. Here is the description of the poster from the site: “The print is a reproduction of Reebee Garofalo’s Genealogy of Pop/Rock Music chart which has been praised by many scholars and fans alike.

It covers the time period from 1955 to 1978, more than 700 artists and 30 styles of music are mapped in currents flowing from left-to-right.”

images via historyshots.com

Seeing that music is such an important part of our lives we may just need to order this and put it up in our studio!

Speaking of great music, one of my personal favorites, Tom Waits, is doing a small tour this summer. If you are one of the fortunate ones that happens to live in one of the states (or countries) he his hitting, take it from me, GO! I have had the opportunity to see Tom Waits twice now and would jump at the chance to see him again.

We’re back from NSS and had a great couple of days in New York! The show was, as expected, absolutely full of talented designers and nifty goods. And, as expected, we barely scratched the surface of all there is to see.

We were so focused on actually making it through the entire show that I never actually pulled the camera out of my bag. I know, terrible. There was so much good stuff, too!

Thankfully, a few other bloggers are keeping great tabs on goings-on (and actually taking photos!). Be sure to follow Vane’s (otherwise known as Brooklyn Bride) guest blogs this week over at Design Sponge for some delicious wedding invitation goodness. Nicole over at NicEvents (who we were able to finally meet in person on Sunday!) took quite a few photos of some great booths and has been posting them with details for the past couple of days. Visit her blog here.

We were really excited to see our good friend Ja of Ilee Papergoods at the show for the first year - she has been selling her sweet cards and gorgeous calendar on Etsy and in a couple of local stores for a while now, but it looks like things will really take off for her after participating in NSS this year. It was also great to finally meet several of the designers that we’ve talked to in this virtual world (somewhat comforting to see that they’re real people! With faces!)
