2010 real wedding :: icy & jay

It’s been quite a while since we’ve shared one of our real weddings, but I have a few lined up to share with you over the coming weeks! This wedding is one of my favorites from last year, and Chris Sollart very generously shared some of his gorgeous photos.

Icy and Jay were married in October 2010 at the Seattle Tennis Club. Icy initial approached us wanting a modern and fresh design that conveyed to guests that the wedding, while an elegant affair, would also be a really fun celebration. Icy brought along to her initial consultation some photos of the lace on her dress, which immediately inspired us. The lace contained a  floral pattern that was somewhat random and really beautiful.

Working from those photos of her dress, we created a modern floral design that was reminiscent of the lace but not overly feminine or romantic. The design translated so well into letterpress – the invitations are letterpress printed in an elegant navy and a really deep natural green on 100% cotton paper. We tied in additional shades of green with sage rsvp envelopes and deep mossy outer envelopes. The modern floral design is foil-stamped in white on the envelope along with the return address for an additional unexpected pop of modernity.

Icy and Jay’s wedding date was 10.10.10 – Jay is a web developer and was excited with the idea that their wedding date was all ones and zeros, which make up binary code. Playing on that, we added in a string of ones and zeros in the date on the invite – with the date itself standing out in a larger size and different color.

We carried the theme through on to programs and escort cards – Icy and Jay even had it carved into the ice sculpture set up at the bar! Their cake, created by New Renaissance Cakes, contains a beautiful and intricate representation of that lace on Icy’s dress.

Icy is a self-proclaimed “thank you card junkie” and loved the idea of ordering thank you cards with their invitation order. We created two different thank you designs for her and she ordered enough to keep her stationery drawer well stocked beyond the wedding!

Special thanks to Chris Sollart Photography for these gorgeous event photos! Visit his website here.

great gift idea :: custom vintage posters

I am smitten with these custom posters from Alexander & Co. I first discovered these through Ruffled and could not be more impressed. Their vintage inspired illustrations can be customized with your names, wedding date, wedding locale…even hair colors! We have many friends getting married this coming year – what a great gift idea!

2009 real wedding :: christina and mike

We first met Christina and Mike in January 2009 at the Seattle Wedding Show. They were planning an elegant East Coast wedding for the fall, and immediately fell for the “two trees” custom invitation suite on display that we created for Lindsey and Phillip in 2008. We worked closely with Christina to create an invitation suite that reflected their own personal style using that imagery.

Using a color palette of autumn yellow and deep gray with bursts of metallic silver, we created an offset invitation suite that consisted of a panel-style invitation, rsvp cards, directions cards, and rehearsal dinner invitations. For their wedding day, we created programs, table cards (each named after a different variety of tree), escort cards, and favor tags. The trees motif carried throughout the wedding day, from a reading of “Two Trees” by Janet Miles at the ceremony to the “Tree in a Box” favors given out at the reception. Christina and Mike were kind enough to share these photos from their event, courtesy of Paired Images Photography.

think pink!

Last week we participated in Voila! – a new bridal show concept – at the Woodmark Hotel in Kirkland. Each event space at the Woodmark was transformed into a particular season and was loaded with inspiration and ideas. We participated in the Spring-themed room along with Woodland Flowers, Make a Scene Party Rentals, Buchanan Chocolates, BBJ Linens, La Belle Reve, Azzura Photography, Butler Valet, Coat Check Complete, Bugsie Productions, My Flawless Tan, and AA Party Rentals.

To correspond with the bright and springlike color palette of pink, pink, and more pink, we created lovebird menus, placecard flags, favor tags, and table numbers. The addition of Sofia Blanc de Blanc cans of sparkling wine added a whimsical touch, while the custom truffle favors (created by Buchanan Chocolates) added a yummy pop of interest to the table.

Special thanks to BreeAnn of Pink Blossom Events and Marcia and Diana of Panache Events for planning the event and to Tania of Azzura Photography for providing these photos!

2009 real wedding :: sonya and michael

Let’s kick the week off with an absolute stunner!

Sonya and Michael planned a chic destination wedding in Maui and worked with us to create save the dates, invitations, and reception items. Their invitation suite is offset printed on opal metallic paper in green and chocolate brown, with a surprising pop of pink textured paper lining the envelopes.

The wedding itself was beautifully coordinated by Katy Griffiths of Vows Wedding and Event Planning and these gorgeous photos were taken by Sandra Coan (thank you Sandra, for sharing!).
